A layered bamboo art map of Lyall Bay, celebrating one of Wellington’s most loved coastal places.
This Matai Gallery small art map captures Lyall Bay and Houghton Bay - Wellington’s best-known city surf beaches. Shaped by coastline, sea, wind and local life, this part of the capital holds strong connections to surfing, walking, family time, beach days and everyday memories by the water.
With its open bay, rugged coastal edge and unmistakable Wellington character, Lyall Bay is a place many people know well and return to often. This piece is a thoughtful way to honour a much-loved local landscape.
Carefully constructed by hand, layer by layer, in our Wairarapa workshop, this four-layer bamboo art map brings depth, texture and warmth to a landscape shaped by coastline, community and memory.
Choose from a black or natural frame to suit your space. Made from layered bamboo ply and framed in FSC pine, each map is carefully finished by hand. Due to the handmade construction and natural materials used, each piece may vary slightly from the image shown, making every map unique.
