A layered bamboo art map of Stewart Island / Rakiura, celebrating the wild beauty and quiet magic of New Zealand’s southernmost island.

This Matai Gallery small art map captures Rakiura with as much detail as possible in a compact format, including Ulva Island, the Northern Muttonbird Islands, Codfish Island / Whenua Hou and every road in Oban.

Known for native bush, sheltered bays, birdlife, walking tracks and dark southern skies, Stewart Island / Rakiura is a place that feels remote, special and deeply memorable to those who know it.

Carefully constructed by hand, layer by layer, in our Wairarapa workshop, this five-layer bamboo art map brings depth, texture and warmth to a landscape shaped by coastline, island detail and connection to the far south.

Choose from a black or natural frame to suit your space. Made from layered bamboo ply and framed in FSC pine, each map is carefully finished by hand. Due to the handmade construction and natural materials used, each piece may vary slightly from the image shown, making every map unique.
